Brent Charran is a cellist from Miami, Florida. An active member of the Miami music community, Brent has performed and recorded across genres. Brent won the NWSA Concerto Competition with the Dvorak Cello Concerto (2007) and also received a full scholarship to the Aspen Music Festival (2009). Recent collaborations include a solo performance for the corporate reveal of Ralph Lauren’s Love fragrance line and an appearance with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra in Miami during their Lost Christmas Eve concert tour.
Brent frequently performs with many of South Florida’s finest
professional orchestras. A typical concert season includes performances with opera companies, symphony orchestras, as well as bands and contemporary ensembles. During his time at the University of Miami, Brent also performed with the Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. Top caliber artists such as Bobby McFerrin, Chick Corea, and Mark O’Connor headlined concerts that the orchestra presented.
As an educator, Brent has held positions on the faculties of the
Community Arts Program (CAP), the Greater Miami Youth Symphony, University of Miami Young Musician’s Camp, and the Miami Music Project. His goal is always to inspire students to pursue their passions while giving them the freedom to embrace and develop their creative expression. Brent received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Miami.
